Essential Oils – oh where to I begin!
At first, I was a skeptic. How in the world do oils effect your health? I thought it was just a fad. It wasn’t until essential oils started positively affecting the people around me that I opened my eyes.
My in-laws are strong believers in essential oils. I’ve always seen them diffusing around their house and loved the smell. I just thought it made the house smell nice but had no idea of the positive health effects. This Easter, Garrett’s Aunt Kristi sat me down and explained what essential oils were all about.
I had been told many times that using essential oils helps replace the chemicals and toxins in our everyday products. When I heard chemicals, I was purely focused on cleaning supples. I only used 409. I thought I was doing pretty good – I only had one chemical in my house. Oh boy was I wrong!!!
Aunt Kristi had me download a free app called “THINK DIRTY.” The app scans your products and rates them from 1 to 10 (10 being the worst) based on the chemicals and toxins they contain. The results were quite scary. I was completely ignorant of what I was putting on my body. My shampoo, deodorant, perfume, makeup and detergent were all seven and above on the toxin scale. Even my Neutrogena Naturals face wash popped up with a big red nine!
After seeing our desire to rid the house of toxins and pursue a natural, healthy lifestyle, Garrett’s Grama bought us the Young Living Essential Oils starters kit as an early wedding present. From replacing our hand-soaps, dryer sheets, and face wash, our home is on its way to becoming chemical free. I’m excited to share Garrett and I’s new beginning as we start our wellness journy with Young Living!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
