Water is an essential ingredient to life. You’ve probably heard that you should drink eight glasses of water each day. However, not all of our bodies are alike. We come in all different shapes and sizes. Plus, we live different lifestyles. There isn’t a one size fits all program to stay healthy. You must figure out what works for you.
Awhile back, I was told to multiply my weight by two and divide by three to find the amount of water I should drink to maintain a healthy intake. I found that this is what works for me. It’s no walk in the park – it takes effort for me to drink enough water!
1. Drink a Glass of Water 1st Thing in the Morning
Drinking 16oz of cold water in the morning will get your metabolism fired up. It not only helps your body flush itself of toxins, it allows your body to absorb more nutrients. Your body will be rehydrated and ready to conquer the day!
2. Carry a Water Bottle with You
If I don’t have my waterbottle with me, I completely forget to hydrate throughout the day. But when my water is sitting on my table, I am constantly grabbing for it – I drink it subconsciously!
3. Drink a Bottle of Water Before Each Meal
When you drink a bottle of water before you eat, your body will become more full quickly. This can help control your food intake and decrease over-eating.
4. Use a Straw
I love my S’well and my purple water bottles, since it keeps my water cold for 24 hours, but, I know I tend to drink water faster with a straw! When I need to constantly hydrate, I use my camelback from camp. I down that thing instantly! Since built in water bottle straws can get pretty gross, I buy straws off of amazon as replacements.
5. Add Flavor
Finally, adding fruit to your water can make hydrating more enjoyable! I’ve tried using real fruit but I struggled to make it into a habit. Although simple, cutting fruit was something I didn’t have time to add to my morning routine. However, a simple drop of essential oil vitality is easy-peasy! My favorite is adding Orange, and my husband, Garrett, loves the Lemon.

Finally, it is extremely important to drink your essential oil infused water in a glass or metal bottle. Never drink essential oils from a plastic bottle or cup. The heavy concentrated citrus oils will eat away at the plastic lining. As a result, the plastic disolves into the water which is dangerous to drink. But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
